During an inspection tour of several technological projects in the Beni Suef Governorate yesterday, Rafat Hendi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, stated that the digital ID service will be launched in a few weeks. He explained that it will enable citizens to complete government services from home by using artificial intelligence technologies to verify their identities

Every Egyptian citizen or resident can have a verified account through the digital ID, a safe electronic method that enables them to use a single, unified account to access government services

? What distinguishes the Egypt Digital Portal from the digital ID

The Egypt Digital Gate is the official unified platform for electronic government services in Egypt. It allows citizens to complete more than 130 government services easily and without the need to visit government offices, using the digital ID as a unified login mechanism; in other words, the ID is the key, and the portal is the service destination. The digital ID is a system for managing accounts electronically and verifying the user's identity

: The portal provides a wide range of services across various sectors, most notably

Food services: issuing a ration card, adding members, updating data, transferring the card between governorates, social separation

Traffic services: renewing driving and vehicle licenses, inquiring about and paying fines electronically, issuing replacements for lost or damaged licenses

Civil affairs: issuing birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates, issuing replacements for lost or damaged ID cards

Notarization and real estate registration: registering properties, general and special powers of attorney, inquiring about deeds, obtaining official copies of authenticated documents

Commercial registry: issuing a commercial registration, updating business activity data, inquiring about trade names

In addition to improving the security of personal information and offering a consistent experience across different government agencies, the digital ID makes it possible to access government services with a single account and expedite transactions without the need for paperwork

? Does the national ID number get replaced by the digital ID

No, the digital ID is a digital extension that enables the safe and electronic use of data in government transactions; it is not a substitute for the national ID number
